I'd drive a diesel electic. I've driven diesel electric trains, GP-38s and GP-7s and been aboard diesel electric subs and destroyer escorts, now museums across the nation.

What if in several years we get you into an all electric Suburban with a 1,000 mile range, but put a diesel engine in the back to blow out some black smoke and make some noise for you, lol?

False premise. Consumers did not petition the government for CAFE standards. You're confusing communists with consumers again dude. Liberals go to government to force their desires onto the rest of us. Regular folks tell the companies what they want and vote with their wallets/pocketbooks.

Yawn.

Americans vote in the booth for folks that have a legislative agenda they agree with (cafe) and with their wallets. Not everything is decided by how many fat dudes line up at a chick fil a.

There’s nothing more communist than giving a bloated company that ignored ‘consumers wallet votes’ for decades, a handout to save them when gas prices go to $4/gallon. I know I was against it. Were you?

Cafe ensures that when that happens again, that they are more prepared because their lot won’t be full of 10mpg dinosaurs.

Come to papa to borrow $$$, be prepared to be given some guidance.

Either way, the 70’s are over dude.

Nope the diesel's gotta be the prime mover, not for show.

I wondered how long it would be for my contrarian to show up! No handouts, no CAFE, no Commies. Socialism is evil.

Agreed. Decriminalize drugs, stop worrying about who can marry who and no more handouts to corporations that don’t listen to consumers voting with their wallets about wanting fuel efficient vehicles.

LOL you guys are too much. The public votes for who they vote for for much more than the candidates automotive agenda! BTW this last cycle voters stomped on CAFE and voted against big regulation. The Court of Appeals just slammed the EPA back for overstepping their jurisdiction trying to take away our new refrigerants already. They wanted to out 404A 410A when they already took away R-22 and we had to replace it. They were going to force an industry to change that didn't have the power to do so, the EPA just got a wake up slap from court and the manufacturers.

the bloated overstepping govt will only tax more and more unless you keep them in check so they don't shrink their wallets.

Not likely. Drugs are still illegal, politicians are worried about who can sleep with whom and farm subsidies aren’t going away any time soon. Though some scientific organizations that get govt funding have been banned from using certain words...so that’s a step towards freedom. Fingers crossed for deregulating river dumping!

The new budget is an unprecedented 4.4T and adds an astonishing $7 trillion to the deficit.

I bet they’ll cut cafe AND bailout GM again. I say give corporations guardrails, don’t play socialist big govt and bail them out/take ownership stakes in them when they make poor decisions.

Oh well. Around and around we go.

The 8-speed transmission in the 2016 Yukon Denali is, in my opinion, a failure. The noise in the passenger seat never ceased. OnStar stopped working because of water infiltration into the antenna. The left-front suspension had to be replaced because of noise. I will miss the 6.2 litre V8, but I grew tired of the problems of the 2016 Yukon Denali. So I traded it in for a 2018 GMC Acadia Denali. It is hard to adjust to a smaller vehicle. But it does not have the 8-speed transmission. It has a simple six-speed transmission. So, goodbye, TahoeYukon forums!

Ahem.

Back to the task at hand. I liked the old Acadia. Not sure about the new one yet, haven’t sat in one.

With 80cft of cargo room it’s a good hauler that’s NOT a minivan.

Good luck with it!

The new Acadia is nice looking, but it’s a LOT smaller than the previous generation.

GM maintained the size of the Chevrolet Traverse and made it lighter. The Acadia got smaller, and 700 lbs lighter.

We would have much preferred a unibody Crossover with IRS: easier ingress/egress, more room, better handling, better ride, better performance, better mpg. But we had to tow 6,000 lbs.

So does this mean the Acadia/ Traverese are not built on the same platform anymore?
