Trailer Hitch / Back-up light attach

Got a question. I am thinking about attaching some Rough Country slim line LED 6" bar lights to enhance the back up lighting. How hard to you think it will be to drill a hole in the part of the frame where the receiver goes. My thought was to use self taping screws to hold the mounting brackets to that. The light bars would shine between that frame and the bumper. The distance between should be plenty to allow the light bars to shine through. Has anyone tried this or what are your thoughts for this project. There is no simple way to put the light bars on the back, i did not want to cut the bumper to put the square LED lights in. Any other suggestions ? thanks

I don’t know why that wouldn’t work. I don’t think there is anything special about the steel, it’s 1/8” so should hold self tapping screws.

Thanks for your input, I am going to go ahead and purchase them and I will post some pictures of the install. We support the Thin Blue Line.

Jerry if you look under the bumper near the frame rails there are 2 factory mounting brackets that hold the bumper in place that are perfect for LED pods. I just removed the bolts and the blind nut inserts and installed the pods. I will try to get you some pics of them mounted. I got these a year or 2 ago and still work perfectly. Here is also some before and after shots in the mirror hooking up the boat at night.

Great light for hooking up the boat, I will check behind my bumper to see about mounting them there

If you get off road much, you might end up hitting those. I’ve hit both points when crossing eroded areas.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think I would like them down that low I would almost rather put them in the bumper. I will see what the slim line bars would look like, or send them back to Amazon
