Transfer case out

I was parking my yukon the other night and when I put it in park it make a loud grinding noise. Took it to the shop and turns out the transfer case was bad. Cost $2600 to replace but it's working like new again. I could have bought another yukon for that but I have put so much into mine I just had to fix it.

what was wrong with it?? for that price you could get a new transmission as well.

www.transfercases.com would have been a cheaper alternative if you had the time.
