you most likely have to switch it to nuetral, then remove it and turn the transfer case gear until it is in nuetral (by spinning the wheels), then reinstall the motor.
thats my best guess, I am sure there is documentation out there somewhere.
and I am not sure if the gear needs to be turned clockwise or counter clockwise or if there is a timing mark.
