I’m significantly increasing the horsepower on my 4wd Yukon and want to keep it 4wd. So, I need some advise on transfer cases. I have a 2003 Yukon with the 5.3L flex fuel motor, 4L60E, 3.73 positrac rearend, and NP 246 transfer case. So far I’ve converted to an e-fan, k&n intake, pacesetter 1 7/8” long tube headers and y-pipe, and all the components needed for a bigger cam. I’m going to be putting a Texas Speed Stage 4 5.3 Truck Cam 223/226 .600"/.600" 111 LSA with a Yank Truck Thruster Series 2600 torque converter, a built 4L65E, Magnaflow 15666 catback exhaust, TBSS intake conversion with 42 lb/hr injectors and 09 corvette TB. I don’t know exactly how much hp I’ll be producing but I’m fairly certain my stock transfer case won’t be able to handle it. Is there an upgrade kit I can get or do I need to swap it for a stronger one? If I need a stronger one, what should I get?

What’s up buddy, I noticed you didn’t get a single comment or any help on your post. That sure as **** seem like that’s the way it goes when you ask something technical like that on here. If it’s not something joe blow can buy at Autozone or O’Reilly’s auto parts and swap out at home then nobody knows what to do LOL. I asked a similar Question I got a couple replies But they were just people asking why I would want to do that and how good the Np246 is. I gave up on it until now. I got it driving again and still need a new t case. She’s about to blow! So I was wondering what you went with? One of my next upgrades is going to be well the t case followed by probaly a h2 rear ended. It has lower gears then the caddy 14 bolt and I think it might be 10” instead of 9” I could be wrong so god help me if I am! The google warriors will be all over my shit lol but I want to put on some type of supercharger! So yeah let me know what you figured out. In the meantime in going to venture back over to The Gm Performance form

The majority of these truck owners are really just using the 4X4 on snow and ice. GM engineered them for that purpose. Not really sure if another option is even available.

I think he means a NP246e which is what is in his 2003. There is a difference between the NP246 and the NP246e. IM not aware of a race version of the NP246e. You of course can by heavy duty chain, gears, bearings, etc.

That’s probably what I’m goong to have to do is just buy hardened parts for mine and rebuild it. I plan on doing some suspension work on it one of these days so I want to make sure it can handle so abuse. Like long travel suspension and hustling A thru sand washes

I did see on the performance for somebody engineered a transmission output shaft be able to run the transfer case out of The HD
