Long answer: If you really wanted, you could have a shop swap components from one unit to the other, but why? Just find yourself the proper transmission.
You shouldn't have any issues finding a 4L60e. ANY GMT800 FULL SIZED 1500 truck or SUV with 6 lug wheels will work, even the ones mated to the V6 on the trucks. Probably the only odd duck is the transmission from the early H2 Hummer, in that this one had 8 lug axles, but the transmission is still compatible (4L65e, I guess.)
