Transmission Control Body Screen Fail

My Dealer called today, saying my vehicle needed this "recall." Although I do not think it is trully a recall, rather a service update. (see the document.)

Anybody fully understand this?

"Transmission Control Body" is the Valve Body?
What is the "Transmission Control Body Screen" the bulletin refers to?
What is the "separator plate?"
How would changing the transmission control module software mitigate the screen separating from the separator plate?

Feels more like a band aid than a fix, but, being an engineer myself, I have seen my fair share of workarounds implemented in te programming to prevent actual problems in hardware...so it is plausible.

Thoughts?

I can't answer your question, but ...
your question makes me strongly suspect that GM is trying a software 'fix' because it is cheaper than a hardware 'fix'.
Although the tcm in a '22 has gained in capability over the years, seems like GM might be trying to
a) save money by addressing the issue with a software adjustment instead of a hardware change
b) avoid spending money on a hardware revision that would ACTUALLY fix a problem,
when a software adjustment can push the problem far enough into the future, that it becomes the owner's post-warranty problem.

You should still do it quickly, to prevent GM from completely disavowing any future responsibility.

Yes, had it done yesterday. Have driven 6 miles since then, so too early to report any noticeable changes.
