I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe with 5.3l engine and a 4L60E transmission in it and the code on the tranny is OKCD The trans went out and is not rebuildable found a 4L60E out of a 2007 Chevy Tahoe with a 5.3L and the code on it is 7KLD are they interchangeable?

If you want to install the 2007 into your 2000 w/the 5.3, it will work, assuming the unit is functional.

The 2007 likely has the turbine speed sensor but your 2000 Tahoe's PCM wont be looking for it so no big deal.

Only important difference is the gasket and seal kit. Order for a 2007, not a 2000 when getting internal gaskets and seals. They both have the same wiring plug receptacle on the drivers sider of the case.

If he's swapping the entire assembled 2000 transmission for the 2007 fully assembled transmission, it shouldnt matter.

If he was refreshing or rebuilding the 2007 for use in the 2000 vehicle then he'd need the wedge seal vs pump o-ring and 2007+ vb-plate/case orange stripe gasket set vs the white stripe set.

I was referring to getting rebuild kit later down the road when it is needed. Builder will need to know that the tranny originally came out of a 2007 instead of a 2000 model year. Its best prevent an unwanted situation before it happens.

Yes, he will need the 2004+ paper/rubber (aka overhaul) kit. However, if the 2004+ paper/rubber kit is more than $20 greater in price than the 93-2000 kit, I'll buy the earlier kit then purchase the wedge seal and orange or white striped VB gasket set separately for a few bucks. I then store the pump o-ring and gasket sets for use in another unit...

To your other point, "down the road" could mean tomorrow, next week or next month when it comes to used 4L60Es.
