You might wanna change your intake manifold gaskets they usually go out around 80 to 100k on these trucks.

Speaking of carbon build up, one of the heat shields on the plug wires I took out was really cooked looking. I will try to get a pic. Can a heat shield arc? I've never seen that before.


Well, here it is. Plug wire from drivers side, closest to the front of the truck.

The rest of the wires look fine and there is no evidence I could see off a fluid spill near the plug..

There's your culprit. Looks like the plug wasn't fully seated...is the wire melted to the heat shield or can you pull it off?

at the risk of sounding like a dumb ass. what is the PCV line and where can i locate it?

PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation. It pulls blowby exhaust gases from the crankcase and recirculates them into the intake - it keeps the crankcase from building up pressure from the blowby so the gaskets and seals don't blow out and cause leaks.
