Trying to pass smog in cali :(

when I got my white taho put together and tried to get it emission tested here in Canada, my computer was not ready they said. I went back 6 times in two weeks. it took that long to get a complete drive cycle. not sure why it takes so long on these trucks but it dose. before a test make sure you don't disconect the battery, I did cause of all the work mine requied and didn't know it took a long time to complete a drive cycle. I was extremly frustrating but it finially passed. I would just drive it ruffly 150miles. sounds like alot i know but it takes that long.

Subscribing. My brother's 01 Silverado with a 4.8 is suffering from this same problem.....secondary air system refuses to run and complete or fault out. This has been going on since May of this year. We've tried all the drive cycles we could find online, it's been driven for 10 miles at a time and it's been driven for 150 miles at a time. Nothing can get the secondary air system test to run. Ridiculous. What is even more ridiculous is the Jack Booted THUG mentality of CA government A-holes who are unelected having a heavy hand with those of us who pay their salary. They all should be thrown out for their illegal BS. And for the record, I'm not an idiot that voted for even one of these DemoncRATS. But I digress....

im guess this wont apply to most of you but this is something i learned in school
if you ever own a vehicle that fails emissions and it has under 80k miles on it
take it to the the dealership there is a federal emissions warranty on all vehicles 8 years or 80k wich the manufacterer has to honor as long as they cant prove it failed emissions due to neglect or poor maintenence

It may have a pending code. Not a memory code but a pending code. The moment you get a pending code, ALL EMISSIONS MONITORS stop running. In other words you may have a problem but it wont turn the check-engine light on because it hasn't failed the monitors in 2 CONSECUTIVE drive cycles yet. You may have an intermittent issue keeping the monitors from passing and/or setting the CEL "Hard Code"

So has the silverado passed? Ive given up sadly i dont have the money to waste on gas to go do stupid drive cycles is just sitting in the drive way with the tags expired since november... mechanics try to upsell u so i dont wanna waste my time with them either

Nope....still not clear, still no smog check. Still driving it daily....flipping the Bird to the State of CA Nazis who are out of control with their heavy hand.

My question is....why was CA fine with one I/M monitor incomplete up until this year and NOW they had to crank down on those of us that pay their effing salaries. This state is truly out of control with Progressive PIG, Big Government, Liberal *********. Sadly....too many people like the "Free Stuff" that the same party doles out so they keep voting them back into power and in greater numbers.....CA voters are just idiots. If there was some balance in this state, businesses wouldn't be fleeing and this sort of ineffective GARBAGE would be held at bay. The fish stinks from the head.
