Can anyone recommend a good tuner in the Houston area? Got one quote for $550 and says hp increase is usually 20-30 hp on a stock Tahoe. Is that about what everyone else is seeing or is he just saying that to justify the price.

All I know of that area is Nelson Performance. They're very well known and reputable on the forums. That price seems a bit steep, unless it's for a fully-custom tune where they dyno it, live tune on the street, datalog, tweak, etc. which is the best one possible.

Yup Nelson
I actually think its a little on the high side.
I paid $400 for a dyno/street tune and I can go back when ever I like (as long as I call to give them a heads up) I have gone back 3 times after for some tweaking for free.

My truck's factory net horsepower rating is 310. After a mild in person BlackBear tune it made 302 Rear Wheel Horsepower through the traps in the quarter mile. The tune is the trucks only mod.

There in San Antonio was hoping for someone in the Houston area.

I used to live about 15 minutes from my tuner. Now I'm about the same distance that you are from Nelson.
I'm sure there are others around, maybe check out TX street trucks and see if someone can help you out.

Logged 0-60 and 0-95 mph were EXACTLY the same before and after my B.B. tune. I was a little disappointed actually. Was stock, added the Airaid jr intake tube and filter then logged run, got tune and logged post tune run with no improvement in power even though the transmission shifts faster. Actually have more knock retard now around 80-90 wot.
Runs done on same road same starting point.

$550 is on the high end.

Usually it's around $300-$500 depending on what Mods you have and if they are Dyno tuning.

There are a lot of good tuners in your area or even an hour outside of your area.

Ask them to pull a couple of degrees of timing and try it out again. My truck's factory rating is 310 horspower and after the tune it makes 302 rear wheel horsepower through the traps in the quarter mile.
