IMO, since I used to own one, that V8 Duramax engine would be better. But that is just me.

I agree, but I've been wanting a diesel(doesn't matter if it's an inline 6) in a suburban size SUV since the Excursions stopped being produced. Can't wait to test drive one.

I get it and understand. I am sure the inline 6 will perform great with all the improvements in design that has to have taken place since I owned my 2003 pickup with the V8 engine.


Does it say whether the trans mated to it will be an Allison?

probably the 10 speed, i think you can order a silverado/sierra as such right now

That's to bad because that Allison trans was the bomb when I towed with it. Took a lickin' and kept on tickin'.

The inline 6 diesel will have the same 10-speed transmission as the 5.3 and 6.2. The Duramax also has a 10-speed which has been branded an Allison though it too is a GM creation. This is my understanding of what has been read anyway.
