5.3 & 4.8's love boost because they don't have a very large bore space In stock form they can only handle a tiny amount of boost but if you open up your ring end gap so your rings don't butt together and cause a ringland to blow you'll be able to throw a significant more amount of boost to the engine. They say the rotating assembly in a 5.3 is only good for 600 horse or so but I've seen people run these motors almost completely stock way past that and the area at the bottom of the piston just below where the wrist pin inserts is usually what goes first. But honestly you could pull it off but I'd say eventually you're going to need to tear into the motor
