4l80's only came behind the 2500 yukon xl, not to be confused with the yukon xl denali 1500 which had the 4l60/5e trans. It could have been swapped already. You can just look at the rpo code in the glove box or look at the trans. You can keep AWD with a 4l80 trans.

**edit** 2002-2003 yukon xl came with the 4l80 in them as an option, not the denali
You will suffer the wrath of @Wicked lol...[emoji12]

Seriously good to know for anyone looking to do the swap. I would much prefer one from a yukon xl than a work truck.

@Wicked Can you take a picture of the rpo sheet in the glove box? Ive never heard of a 4l80e in anything other than 2500's. Although, there is/was a member on here who had an ex-sercret service escalade that was a 4l80e and awd. Im curious what GM did to mate them together.

FWIW OP, Theres a guy on the silverado ss forums who made a new input gear adapter for the nvg149 so you can run a 4l80e. no clue if he still makes them or not.

From the research I've found to make the 4l80e work you need to lengthen front drive shafts and shorten rear 30mm. Sadly my 1500 has the 4l60e. For future reference it's best to slide underneath and take a peak.

Ive read somewhere that 2500hd shafts fit, but I wouldn't put my faith in that working out, I'd get custom length ones to be safe. Swapping a 4l80e in an awd truck is not the simplest of jobs, but its been documented several times on pt.net & silveradoss.com to make things easier and take out the guess work. When I start having tranny problems *knock on wood lol* I'm going to start piecing together that swap.

For manifolds, flip your stock ones. Boost levels are negligible. Plenty of people throwing 20+ to bone stock 5.3's and 6.0's with supporting fuel mods. 4l80 should hold a fair bit of power without any problems.

Google and Youtube will be your friend with this project.

20? omg that's hawt

20? omg thats

@Wicked got wicked on this thread. I too have never heard of a 4L80 in a stock 1500 or Denali but stranger things have happened.

On second note, are you sure you know what your getting into with adding a custom turbo set up. I am also wanting to look into a turbo set up for the 5.3L but that will be a build from the ground up. Starting with the engine it self. Have not done any research myself maybe you have, but I would say that these engines are not built for boost like that. Iv seen guys throw on blowers left and right with no issues. Turbos are another monster altogether tho. Is this your daily driver if so then if you plan on building a custom kit or piecing it together, unless you can get all the info with measurement, diagnostics and test and tune on the web then you truck will be down for quite some time. Even if you had everything you could possibly imagine it would still be down for a good week or so and I would say that's if your know what your doing.

I don't want to sht on your dreams but just looking at the reality of things, and don't want to waste time.
