Manual/Direction Of how to Remove the Engine..

I'm sure I'm able to-do the job. but if I see some instruction it will be a lot easyer.

I assume i remove the bolts which hold the engine to the Tranny and YANK it out. Easy as that.. WEll beside removing all the other parts.

ANYONE near me? I live in San Diego.. I need to borrow/Rent your Engine Crane!! Don't want to buy one..

  • Tools Required
  • J 41427 Universal Lift Brackets, or equivalent
CAUTION: If the engine is damaged internally and a new engine assembly is installed in the vehicle, flush all foreign material from the cooling system and the oil cooler system. Severe engine damage may occur if debris is not removed.



  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable assembly from the battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove the hood.
  3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  5. Remove the engine cooling fan. Refer to Cooling System.
  6. Remove the radiator. Refer to Cooling System.
  7. Remove the heater hoses at the engine. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
  8. Remove the accelerator and cruise control cables (if equipped).
  9. Remove the air conditioning compressor and bracket. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
  10. Remove the generator and bracket.
  11. Remove the engine wiring harness from the engine.
  12. Remove the fuel lines from the intake at the rear of the block. Refer to Powertrain Management.
  13. Remove the vacuum lines.
  14. Raise the vehicle.
  15. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  16. Drain the engine oil.
  17. Remove the exhaust pipes from the manifolds. Refer to Exhaust System.
  18. Remove the strut rods at the engine mountings.
  19. Remove the starter. Refer to Starting and Charging.
  20. Remove the torque converter bolts (if equipped).
  21. Lower the vehicle.
  22. Support the transmission. Do not support under the transmission oil pan.

  1. Attach the J 41427 to the left front and right rear intake manifold mounting bolts, using the following procedures:

    1. Disconnect the spark plug wires.
    2. Remove the distributor cap. Refer to Starting and Charging.
    3. Remove the right rear lower intake manifold bolts.
    4. Install tine J 41427 marked RIGHT REAR.
    5. Install the retaining bolts.

    • Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) .

    1. Remove the air conditioning compressor. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
    2. Remove the accessory drive bracket. Refer to Cooling System.
    3. Disconnect the EGR tube from the intake manifold.
    4. Remove the left front lower intake manifold bolts.
    5. Install the J 41427 marked LEFT FRONT with the arrow pointing to the front of the engine.
    6. Install the retaining bolts.

    • Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) .

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to the lift brackets.
  2. Remove the transmission to engine bolts.
  3. Remove the front engine mounting to frame bolts.
  4. Remove the engine.

  1. Install the engine to the vehicle.

    • Disconnect the J 41427 and lifting device.
    • ReInstall the intake manifold bolts.
    • Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) .
    • Raise the vehicle.
    • Support the vehicle with safety stands.

  1. Install the front engine mounting to frame bolts.
  2. Install the transmission to engine bolts. Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
  3. Install the torque converter to flywheel bolts (if equipped). Refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.
  4. Install the starter. Refer to Starting and Charging.
  5. Install the strut rods at the engine mountings.
  6. Install the exhaust pipes to the manifolds. Refer to Exhaust System.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Install the vacuum lines.
  9. Install the fuel lines.
  10. Install the engine wiring harness.
  11. Install the generator and bracket. Refer to Starting and Charging.
  12. Install the air conditioning compressor and bracket. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
  13. Connect the EGR tube to the intake manifold.
  14. Install the accelerator and cruise control cables (if equipped).
  15. Install the heater hoses. Refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
  16. Install the radiator. Refer to Cooling System.
  17. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Cooling System.
  18. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Powertrain Management.
  19. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement in Sheet Metal.
  20. Install the proper quantity and grade of engine oil.
  21. Install the proper quantity and grade of coolant.
  22. Connect the battery negative cable assembly to the battery negative terminal.

    • Tighten the bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) .

I think to make things eayers for me. I will remove the Front End of the Yukon.. i think its just 10 Big bolts which hold the Front of the Denali...

I got the Engine all Back.. I got everything installed.. But need one Drain Plug for the coolant system which on the driver side of the engine block... have no idea what size it is. anyone know ? and where i could get it? autozone, kragen, they all dont know what the hell it is..
