Less than 1k miles on these tires... and already a screw in one. Not just any screw either, a screw that decided to park itself in a contraversial area. I'm going to try plugging it, anyone think that's a bad idea?

Depending on how long it is, it might not have penetrated.

If it did, plug it and use it for a spare.

Plug it or scre it in more and hope it doesn't leak. It doesn't look bad I've screwed a screw in before no problem but yea if it was a nail then pull n plug

Unfortunately, using it as a spare isn't an option. It's either a plug, or I'll have to take it to a shop and have them put a plug in from the inside. Or, I guess a tube.

Its close to the sidewall...so a plug may or may not work. If its not leaking now though, I'd back it out slowly to see if you start hearing air escape. If not then you're good (it wasn't long enough to *********). If you do, then just screw it in all the way and let the fastener itself act like a threaded plug. I've done it a time or two with no I'll effects.

I can wiggle it and hear air. I really don't want to leave it in there though. I'm just going to try a plug, and if it doesn't hold, take it to a tire shop and have it fixed from the inside.

Take it and have it patch-pluged from the inside.. Some places might not even fix it cause its to close to the inside

I plugged it. We'll see if it holds. When I pulled the screw out, it was actually bent, so the hole actually went down in between the tread on a 'flat' part of the tire. I think it's going to be ok, but only time will tell. Hopefully I'll have some terra grapplers on this thing soon anyways.

yeah a reputable tire shop won't be able to plug that because of how far it is in the shoulder. any plug you put in there will only be a temporary fix as air will leak out eventually, and that is a liability for the tire shop. tire needs to be replaced. not sure where you got the tires, but discount tire has a warranty that covers that kind of stuff. can only get it on tires you buy through them, but they'll price match anyone.

Have them remove the tire and do a patch.
