VortecMAX package was only available on 06-08 Silverado/Sierra and they all had the LQ9 (06-07 NBS) or L76 6.0 (07-08 NNBS), the package was never offered on any SUVs...stuck a badge on there bc it has the 6.2, although a 6.2 Tahoe is definitely a unicorn...before the VortecMAX option GM offered the VHO (Vortec High Output) option (RPO B4V) with 04-05 Silverado/Sierra which also included the LQ9 but was only available with 2WD ECSB....

That was my initial thought about the emblem but thought it better to ask you guys. What did they call the aluminum 6.0 L76 that was available for select GMT900s from 2007-2009?

I believe the only way you could get the Aluminum L76 6.0 in the GMT900 platform was with the 07 and 08 Silverados and Sierras with the VortecMAX package (Also came in the Pontiac G8 GTs and Police Package Caprices although there are some slight differences even though they share the same RPO)....in 09+ the GMT900 1/2 tons the only V8 you could get other than the 5.3 was the 6.2 (L92, L9H, L94) GMT900s with the Z71 or NHT suspension, Denali trim or the Escalades...the 3/4 ton GMT900s came with the Iron LY6 6.0s and later in 12+ 3/4 tons they changed to the Iron L96 6.0 (E85 capable LY6)

A vortec max would be a downgrade from the 6.2 that's actually in the truck correct?

Shirley, you can't be serious. They're the CK375 that was OEM on the GMT900 Denali. Very popular wheel. I'd say it's about the 3rd most played-out wheel next to the KMC Slide and U2 55.

There's a chance I might end up with a set cuz I like them and I may be able to get 'em cheap.
Ive always liked the 375s. I thought about going down to a set in 22s instead of the 24s I currently have. They still look great on a lowered truck. I never liked the slides, but they are everywhere.

Yes and no. If the 6.2 has the AFM system than the vortexMax 6.0 would be a nice alternative, for power and reliability, without worrying about all the crap that comes the AFM system later on in its life.

Its an 09 Tahoe with a 6.2, so it's an L9H with no AFM. The owner slapped on badges and threw on some wheels from a hyprid Tahoe. That vortec max max badge is from an 07, 08, or very early 09 Silverado with the L76 6.0. There were L76 vortec max in 09 that had a 4 speed auto, then the 6 speed, then a switch to the L9H 6.2 in the same year. 2009 was a confusing year for GM, lol .

Edited to fix LY6 to L76

From 2007-2009 that L76 was available as an option on the Yukon XL, Suburban and Avalanche.

I would say so, especially since it had AFM and made less horsepower than the 6.2 and was not FlexFuel capable like the L9H and L94.

The L76 was rated at 366 HP @ 5500 RPMs and 380 FT LBS of Torque @ 4300 RPMs. About the same as the LY6/L96. In the first two years it was paired with the 4L70 and then the 6L80 in 2009.
