Yes, cleaning the rotors is very simple. Go get a can or two of regular brake cleaner, spray the rotors well and wipe down with a clean clothe or paper towel. As for brake fluid, I recommend using DOT 4, making sure that the system is fully flushed. Not all brake fluids are the same so when you are looking at them locally, look for the brand that offers the highest wet and dry boiling point. For example, for DOT 4 minimum boiling point rating is 311*F where as brake fluids like AMSOIL offer a wet boiling point of 410*F. The best out there that I have found in this regard are AMSOIL Series 600 DOT 4 and WILWOOD. Although not cheap, they offer the best protection and fluid stability than others on the market. There are other choices that can be found locally, just remember that the best one is going to be the one with the highest wet boiling point.

I also recommend flushing the power steering fluid. But I recommend performing a full flush on both of those fluids at the very least before each winter. This way you know that they are in good shape, but in the case of brake fluid, you will also know that you aren't going to wind up with frozen brake lines that can cause problems.

Hey Chris I want to order some rotors and pads from R1, but the 2007+ doesn't show up on the menu. What gives?

Their catalog is still in the process of being built and your truck is one of the models they have not "gotten around to" yet. Normally, all GMT900 models use the same brake parts so looking up the parts for 2007 base model will apply to the later GMT900 models. However, I will email my rep with R1 and verify that and get back to you asap. You can also order through me directly or I can have R1Concepts send a Paypal Invoice through email for ordering. Not everything they carry is listed in the online catalog, believe me, this has been an ongoing thorn in my side.

Thank you for your questions!

This is exactly why I have these on my Caprice and will be getting them on my burb in a few months when it comes time for another brake job. Can't beat the prices and improved performance over stock.
