So I was outside hooking up my LOC for my stereo's amp. My truck has premium bose and factory nav... the truck was running with the a/c on... I hooked the remote up and then put my drivers side door sil back on and the truck just shut off .. all guages dont work, only the battery light stays on, no crank, no nothing... What the heck did I do. I seemed to check damn near all the fuses and none are popped... my radio dont work, the cd changer turns on, power locks work, alarm/remote starter wont respond....

What did I do... What to test ???

Thanks so much guys and gals!

Pull the driver's door sill back off and see what you pinched-I'm guessing you grounded out your remote wire and then blew a fuse. Sounds like a short to me......

Exactly what I was going to say! Go back to the source of the last thing you did when everything went dead and make sure you didn't pinch/cut anything and are causing something to ground out or become disconnected!! As for fuses, check them ALL, every single one!! There is a fuse box inside the drivers door on the dash as well as one under the hood on the drivers side! Good luck and report back your findings!

ALL of the fuses are good.... or at least look it, alot of them do not have power coming to them though? What brings power into the fuse blocks? its like half are on and half are off ??? WEIRD stuff i have never encounterd....

Just tested them, Used a circut tester on them all, on the plus side my system bumped loud (eclipse aluminum 15" sub on a JL Audio 500/1 @ 2ohms)... (jumped it to see if i messed that up too...)

What the hell could I have shorted out, I most for surely did ground out the remote wire though and thats when the whole truck just shut off...

What specific things now should I check for???

Thanks for the replies so far!

Excactly what it was, a 40 amp "IGN 2" cover was dirty looked good, then on the triple check, it was blown. Thank God....

I'm good to go now again! With a system to boot!

:)

Thanks Guys!

Glad you got it fixed. Never go by 'looking' at fuses. A VOM(Volt Ohm Meter) is your best friend when working with voltages(AC or DC).

Glad you figured it out, but it makes me curious on what under the sill plate that would have caused the fuse to blow when you were putting it back on! Maybe it was coincidence and it blew just before that when you were doing something else!

Check everything from the radio back to the Amp to make sure there are zero nicks! What I usually do when installing amps and big systems I wrap up all the wires with electrical tape corresponding with the color of the wire with electrical tape just to give it that added layer of protection. Check you connection on the radio remote out and follow it back to the amp. I wish you luck.
