Pretty sure we all have the same E38 ECM.

I am certain that with.... wait for it......

A Tech2... lol

I could see it or perhaps turn that feature on to where it would work with the torque app... or perhaps I just haven't spent enough time trying to figure it out.

Ok... Success finally

I did some more digging around and finally found the PID parameters that worked for my 2008 to show the ethanol content.

It is as follows...

rps20180617_223008_281.jpg

Now I can see that on my 3rd tank of E85 I am at 74.9% Ethanol.

I hope this info may help someone else.

I am still trying to figure out the oil temperature and oil pressure and transmission temperature.

If any of you guys have these working could you please post up the PID parameters from the Torque Pro app.

Thanks.

So I did some testing with the Torque Pro app today...

2008 Suburban LTZ 2wd 5.3L LMG 4L60E 4speed transmission 3:73 G80 rear end..

On E85 at 74.9% Ethanol content
Out side air temp 90°
Traction control and stabilitrac off

Full throttle from a dead stop.

Here are the results...

Not to bad for a 6000lb+ tank... lol
I have the Suburban set in the app at 6500lbs which I think is pretty close to being accurate.

I am interested to see what the differences might be running 89 octane which is what the truck is custom tuned for.

Also here are the LTFTs and STFTs first thing this morning while warming up...

And after it was up and running for a while...

Trims look good. Back in December I would have beat ya in the 1/4 mile! Mine ran 10.74 in the 1/8th mile and 16.55 in the 1/4 mile. But you have me on MPH, she went through the traps @ 85 and change.

Mine weighs 5900 with near a full tank of fuel and with the Tech2 thrown in back and some tools and my big butt I figured she was right around 6300 pounds. Back then the tires were at 42 psi, too low. The motor was making 302 rear wheel horsepower. Looking forward to the fall or winter to make another couple of passes.

In 2017 the national average yield for an acre of corn was 176.6 bushels.

When Ethanol is processed from corn, it currently yields 2.87 gallons and like a barrel of crude oil, the remainder is used for other things.

If one desired to use 1000 gallons of E85 with a 75% Alcohol content it would break down to 750 gallons of Ethanol which consumed 261.3 bushels of corn on 1.48 acres.

The other portion of E85 is gasoline at 25%. This equates to 250 gallons and 12.5 barrels of crude oil were used in its manufacture. Not all of the barrel mind you, 20 gallons for every 42 is refined for gasoline, the rest for other products.

So for a tank of 26 gallons of E85, one will burn 6.794 bushels of corn that was grown on .038 acres and used .325 of a barrel of oil for its gasoline content.

Running 1000 gallons of gasoline requires 50 barrels of oil and for a 26 gallon tank of fuel it requires 1.143 barrels of gasoline.

I wonder, if there was an even playing field, which costs less to produce and bring to market?

Finished up another tank of fuel yesterday. My dear wife had been driving the truck and she managed to tank the mileage as usual, down to 10.83 mpg! E85 still cheap so we filled up with it again.

Enough time has passed now to get a good picture of how much the bad cats affected the truck's mileage. On gasoline she's picked up 2.29 mpg and on E85 the difference is 1.49 mpg.

Hey Ken, I think your truck weighs less than mine. It's 2WD right? Calculating numbers off my door sticker, GVW - Cargo Weight, she comes out to 5901. I took it to the CAT scales and it weighed 5900 with the new KO2s on it and just two or three gallons shy of a full tank. Then again, I don't know how much extra all that stereo stuff you have weighs!
