Oil Pressure no longer normal!

There is oil everywhere underneath the truck and it is pooling on the ground now. The oil pressure is low again, holding at about 20 psi while in gear at idle and only going up to about 30 psi at speed like before.

So when it stops raining, will top off the oil and check the pressure again, then call a guy and see when I can the truck up on his lift and have a look around underneath.

What kind of external engine oil leak can cause the oil pressure to drop? Enquiring minds want to know!
Loose oil filter?I really don’t know, but I was thinking if it’s loose and oil isn’t flowing through the bypass valve, just spitballing here. It seems to me that the last thing done to anything is what usually causes the last issue. Hoping for the best, James.

How's the oil pressure sending unit? A guy once had oil leaking out of his, and it was leaking onto the ground.

Me, I was that guy. Replaced the oil sender with another new one and did valve cover gaskets to stop the oil from leaking down from the top of the engine. It was still coming out of the rear cover, but I wasn't planning on fixing that.

@swathdiver Did you happen to pull off the VLOM, and check/replace the gaskets that seal the VLOM to the block's AFM towers (or whatever they're called)?

my guess would be at the sensor, either threads or middle of the connector, then oil block off plate, last would be filters didn't seal? loose or double gasket?

all things I've seen that would be a easy for fix. Will be interesting what you find.

The rocker cover gaskets were replaced about 25K miles ago and they are weeping and maybe leaking. I tightened the VLOM bolts but did not pull it and have a looksee underneath. Good idea.

Filters are on tight and not leaking, all gaskets accounted for! I am thinking about that oil cooler fitting above the filter though. Replaced it about 5 years ago.

Anyhow, going to put the truck on a lift on Sunday and have a look underneath myself. I'll keep you posted.

I've been running errands all day, didn't get up past 45 mph and one time the oil dropped to about 19 psi in gear at a light but the rest of the day it was normal, mid 20s.
