In need of some assistance. I have a 2005 Tahoe Z71 w/L59 engine, 706 heads. Currently miles are 171000. I recently purchased this vehicle and had heard a minor ticking from top end, but being a decent mechanic I figured I could work through it. It has since got worse but the circumstances when it's worse confuses me. When I start it on the morning there is a little tick and then it's gone. At this time the oil pressure sits around 30-32. As the temperature rises and gets around 165, the ticking starts and progressively gets worse until operating temp. After reaching operative temp around 200-205, the ticking then magically vanishes. Oil pressure at temp is 40 and increases with rpm.

I have read that this could be lifters, exhaust, oil pump, etc. Before I dig into a head pull I'm I am trying to come up with other solutions, if any. I have already pulled the valve covers and Seafoamed the lifters with a half a can, drove around for a bit and changed to a premium oil/filter. This IMO did nothing to solve the issue.

Any help/guidance is much appreciated. Here is a short video of the sound from different angles. I have heard lower end noise before and to me this definitely sounds like upper/center noise.

sometimes a half can is not enough. dump in a full can.
Try replacing a quart of oil with quart of trans fluid.

When I seafoam or trans fluid clean engines, I drive easy for 3-5 days. then change it.
sometimes do this twice back to back.

use seafoam first, then trans fluid if it doesnt work by second bottle.

trans fluid is far more agressive then seafoam.
start with half quart swap. if noise nt gone in a day or two, add other half quart.

Do this at own risk.
its know to work and work well. just be aware shit happens.
