I was gonna use it to change out the trans fluid in the wife's Acadia. The fluid in it looks a little dirty and I haven't seen any maintenance records of it being changed, altho there is a record of the rear differential fluid being changed, lol.

It only holds about 9 quarts total and has a drain plug. It also has the tow package with the auxillary trans cooler so I can disconnect the line and do the pump some old/refill/repeat till clean fluid comes out procedure.

It also calls for Dex VI for the power steering fluid, but 75w90 gear oil for the transfer case and rear differential.
Good idea to replace the fluids, for sure. I always do all new fluids when I buy a car, regardless of past maintenance history.

I don't think it would hurt to use it and I don't think I would stay away from it if it was time for mine to be done. Quality new fluid is better than old worn stuff.

This trans doesn't have a pan, just a drain plug, so no pan to drop. It does have a filter, but it's internal and can only be gotten to if the trans is removed and pulled apart

I understand it's just a screen.
Probably on the side of the transmission.
big plate facing forwards.

I'm not seeing a direct reference to it in the factory service manual.
Making me wonder if it's somewhere else weird.
and maybe I'm thinking of the 4t65...

It makes me want to add a cooler line filter... :jester:

And I did a series of 3 drain & fills with the wife's Buick, had her drive it for good week between.

I might just grab an ATSG manual for $30, questions need answers... :)

Has anyone used this Multi-vehicle type trans fluid? It says it's compatible with Dexron VI, Mercon LV, Dex/Merc

I'm using Valvoline Dex/Merc in the Blue Gallon. It's multi-vehicle for GM Dexron III. It's cheaper and recommended to be used in vehicles older than 2006. Mine is a 2000 4L60E and it works just fine. This is the first time I have ever used Multi-Vehicle Fluid.
