Violent Downshift

So last night as I'm leaving Walmart making a left, as I straighten out to accelerate my 2012 Yukon XL Denali downshifted hard enough to scare everyone onboard. I was probably doing 10-15mph and eased on to the gas. It drove fine the rest of the way home. Should I be concerned?

No codes, but I have a cheap Harbor Freight scanner.

Unless the scanner specifies it'll do abs and trans codes, you won't be able to pull them.

if you go by a dealership and explain what happened they might be nice enough to give it a scan (for free) and see if anything got stored, this doesn't obligate you to have them work on it but at least you will know how to proceed. just depends on the dealership some will no problem and some might say no $85 please.

I got this as a gift. It's pretty decent, but it's in the $300 range. For that price you could get a Tech2. Btw--that's the code I'm getting in my Express van that has similar symptoms as what you're getting. It has the 4L80 trans tho.

I picked one of these up towards the end of last year. It's pretty basic, but it will read ABS, airbag, chassis, suspension, transmission codes.
