So the Volant intakes are the way to go? I already have a K&N filter is the Volant intake worth the money? Does it improve power and mpg or just power? Not sure if 300 bucks is worth it?

Sorry to disagree with you Atomic, but....

No, it's not worth it. Volant and K&N full air intake kits vs the stock intake with a K&N filter is not worth the $300 extra.

I've done research on the differences HERE.

The full CAI kits replace the OEM GM tophat (flat 90degree elbow on top of the Throttle body) and gives you a 4% increase in air volume. Volant DOES suck in cooler air from the fender, but drops air volume because of that. That 4% increase in air volume is the only difference.

I've noticed by monitoring my intake air temps, outside ambient air temps and water temps/efan activity for about a year now, that with my K&N drop in filter and top of air box removed that HEAT SOAK is not an issue. When the truck is moving at any speed faster that 15mph the intake air temp is the same as the outside air temp.

BTW, I really like mine too...

EDIT: Honestly, If I knew this info before, I would have just bought a $60 Ebay Spectre or Airraid kit and be done with it.

Just my thoughts (as I put on my flame suit)...
