Verts and HP don't mix well, especially with unibody platforms.

They usually came with some extra bolt on triangular braces that crossed under the front subframe and K member and some thin flimsy bolt in connectors between the front and rear subframes on later years.

Best to weld in some frame connectors at the very least. Through floor connectors or even a 6 or 8 point cage is better
Not bashing, but whenever I see a convertible it just looks like a girl's car. I passed on a triple black gt with some engine mods and other goodies because it was a convertible. Could've got it for $3500 too.

I like convertibles when I'm in Hawai'i...... But here, in Florida, you would burn under the Sun.
But no problem... I enjoy doing "car stuff".....
My mechanic has other race-converted cars..... i am sure he will stiffen it up.....
especially with a Coyote in it !!

Funny, the other day I bought seats to a car I don't even have--yet lol.View attachment 414826

That's a total Me thing to do. :jester:

I'll note that I was looking for a Camaro when I bought my vette.
I didn't really care what era it was from, just that it was at least 30 years old to qualify as a vintage/collector status in my state.

I found that people wanted stupid money for them.
I even looked at Mustangs for a bit, lots of convertibles available at the time but it had to be a V8 unmolested example.

Surprising thing is that a Vette was cheaper than a Camaro?!
I looked at a Camaro with tons of rust, they wanted something like 4 or 5k for it.
and it needed a ton of mechanical and interior work.

Then I found I could get a vette in like new condition with under 100k miles for under 6k.

I ended up going for the cheaper option at $3500 (or maybe it was 4k), just over 100k original miles, good straight body with some patina.
and a great running and good shifting transmission.
Totally unmolested, even the original stereo.

I molested the fk out of that car. :ehcapt:
Still the factory radio/cassette deck from 84 though. :headbang:

Anyways, keep it up, however I'm sure those mustangs have become more desirable over the years.

I'm not sure if this is the correct spot---Looking for an 86-93 Mustang Notchback. Has to have the 5.0 and be an automatic. The shock towers, torque boxes and floors have to be rust free. I've been looking around and guys seem to be pretty proud of their notches. I wish I could get a roller/project, unfortunately I don't own where I live. Maybe someone you might know has one reasonably priced--not off in the stratosphere. View attachment 414804
My wife had a hatchback it was mint with new paint wheels tires new motor and transmission mildly built we sold it for I believe 5500-6500 in 2014 which I felt like was a reasonable happy medium and still got it sold relatively quickly but she’s regretted it ever since!IMG_1543.jpeg

It's surprising how prices of vettes have come way down. Too bad I'm not a vette guy tho--no offense.

She looked clean. GTs and vertical are really cheap, it's those damn notches that tickle my fancy lol. If I can't find a reasonably priced notches MAYBE I'll start looking at hatches. They're still reasonable around me.

My old friend used to have one of these back in the early 2000's that he scored for a screaming deal at an auction. It was a 1993 Mustang LX, ex Louisiana State Trooper Highway patrol car. It had a 5.0 and automatic. The dash and interior was DESTROYED with tons of screw holes and wiring holes drilled in almost every interior panel and dash panel. He put a ton of work in it, especially replacing tons of interior parts. He had to replace the gears in the rear end, because it was EXTREMELY slow from a dead stop. Understandably so, because it was set up with highway gears for top end. I drove it before he replaced the gears, and it had AWESOME pickup at highway speeds. You punch it at 60-70mph and it would sometimes break the tires loose! That car was a monster. He should have never sold it, but he got an offer he couldn't refuse...

When I was with the "Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving".... at the Sonoma Raceway, Ford's "SVO" operations spent a week or 2, configuring the school cars.....

I might be wrong, but I believe the production "SVO Mustang" and the Highway Patrol cars came from their work at the track.

( We had Datsun 240Z's before that )

Found the perfect notchback for me, unfortunately it's in Sublette Kansas. I've never shipped a car before, and I don't know if I'd be comfortable buying a car sight unseen. The shipping quotes are all over the place. From a low of $650 to a high of $1500.
