I have a 03 Tahoe with rear DVD, and the stock Delco Bose system. Went to the stereo shop today to see about getting a Pioneer head unit that has navigation and bluetooth. Was told I couldn't put it in without loosing the sound for the DVD player. I was told it's all FM modulated and there is no interface for it. I'm sure I'm not the first person to want to do this. What can I do? What do I need to make it all work? I also want the steering wheel controls to work. I just bought the Tahoe and it's going to suck if I can't upgrade.

It can be done, you need the correct harness. It been discussed here many times...

http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51952

IF your OE radio was the source of activating RSE (by hitting the source button) you can use this harness. If activation was somewhere else like the rear controls, then no you can't

Meta GMOS-014 - GM Onstar/ RSE/ and retain the warning chimes module

The GMOS-014 is designed to retain Onstar/ Rear seat entertainment (RSE)/ and retain the warning chimes that are normally lost when the OEM radio is removed. It also provides a 12 volt accessory output for aftermarket radio operation.
The GMOS-014 provides a mute/ parking brake/ vss or speed sense and reverse output to make installing an aftermarket navigation radio simpler and less time consuming.

and :welcome:

Thanks for the info. I was just going by what they told me. I guess I also need the adapter for the steering wheel controls. You don't happen to have a part number for that too?

Find another stereo shop, it's obvious they don't want your business or are too lazy to do the work needed.... or both!

We spent about an hour looking through the place he gets his stuff through and couldn't find anything. I told them I would do some digging for what is needed. They told me if I find anything to let them know.

Now I have to figure out what radio I want and if I will do the install myself. My issue isn't that I can't do it myself, it's more about getting the time to do it. I know it will be a Pioneer. Been running Pioneer's for a long time.

I'm installing a used Pioneer AVIC F700BT w XM into my 05 Z71 using the before mentioned kits. I like the AVIC F series because the system can be hacked and modded easy. Hardest part to the install is soldering the harness. Pretty easy really. Good Luck.

This stereo shop sounds suspect. May want to check out a more experienced one. They can't figure it out with new parts, what happens When something needs repair down the road.
