I used stethascope on EGR and iy didnt seem to make any noise of its own. I tried unplugging the electrical connector and no difference in noise.

I have been internet searching quite a bit here. I noticed a part called a overrun clutch (sprag?) in a 4L60E. It's applied when in gears 1 through 3 (manually selected). It allows for engine braking in those gears (but isn't used in overdrive). I wonder if that clutch / mechanism is going out.

245k haha Honestly, no idea how many miles are on it. Bit of mystery truck,. I am 3rd owner.

I have a second trans, just need to rebuild it so i can swap it in.

Honestly, I think other 4L60Es all vroke due to poor servicing. My folks always ran gm trucks and none ever had transmission problems.

I kind of tend to think is transmssion because if my engine build was right... and feels good I could bow be making 150% more power than old 5.3L

It absolutely screams when in 2nd or 3rd gear and gas is hit on highway.

It really does sound like you need to swap out the transmissions and make sure you build the next one to be able to handle the HP.

I ran in to this a lot in my shops, where typically a younger person would come in and want me to make his car go faster. There were two things I always asked right after that, "Do you have the money it takes to do that and is your brakes and suspension up to ***** to handle the additional HP?" Typically the second question got the deer in the headlights look. I would tell them that unless you are willing to be sure of the suspension and brakes I talked about, then I am not willing to make a go fast car for you. LIABILITY concerns.

I ask you now, is your suspension and brakes up to ***** for your HP beast?

haha for sure. I rebuilt whole truck in light of this engine... I have torn down every subsystem except transmission and tx case at this point. I also have spare transmission just need to order parts to build it up and swap it in (separate thread)..

Not really intended for go fast build tho more for torque, towing, and overlanding. I want escentially an HD tahoe.

Kind of hoped might be something other than transmission so I could take my time building the new one and still use truck.
