I just noticed that I don't have oil spewing everywhere with my new lifters. Valve covers are off and the old ones made a big mess as expected. Actually almost zero coming out of push rods. Wonder why? Oil pressure is 50 at idle 65 with a little gas.

These lifters have a flat side on two sides and will only go in 2 ways. I put oil ports on lifters facing cam. Is there a right and wrong way to install these?

Should make no difference as oil is pumped around tne narrow part of lifet body and finds it way to the intake hole. Sure you got hydrualic rollers?

Also you presoak and work lifters to bleed air out.

yes. just now double checked part no. I changed oil and filter too so should be no problem there. Lifters are identical to old ones. I don't know if this is noise problem or a different problem. Probably different but i have to figure it out before I go further.

I did find a very slightly bent push rod on the suspect cylinder. Replaced it and still had same noise. All other push rods are good. Changed oil again and oil is flowing pretty good. I had 10w40 in it. I put 5w30 in it this time.

I knew that newer gm cars such as my trailblazer used the 5w30 oil but I thought the 97 models were old school. Just didn't check before hand.
