What made you opt for the 4600's vs 5100's? I'm wanting to upgrade mine as well. Wondering if there is much difference in ride quality between the two models.

Mainly because the price difference wasn't worth it for me because they are basically the same shock with the exception of a few minor things. If I planned on leveling the front I would have opted for the 5100s but since I'm staying stock height the 4600s will do just fine. I don't think there is any noticeable difference in ride quality between the two models either. I do know the stock shocks are garbage in comparison with the Bilsteins. I should have the fronts here soon then gotta get those installed. Then I'm gonna go hit some speed humps, that will tell me everything I need to know.

How do the Bilstein 5100's Compare to Fox shocks? I originally was going to raise the rear and get the Fox's but I'v been hearing allot of good things about the 5100's. They're allot cheaper so that's a big plus.

the 5100's are just regular shocks, the fox are offroad/adjustable, etc

On my previous F150 I had 5100s all the way around, on my current I have Fox 2.0s in the rear and will most likely get the Fox 2.0 coilovers for the front. The Fox 2.0s are superior in build quality and use better shock oil. I also believe they dampen and ride smoother while still stiffening things up. If you have the $ I'd say they're worth it but if you're just looking for a little better ride and a little lift in the front and rear with no real plans to offroad then the 5100s will most likely give you the best bang for buck.

Has anyone used the Bilstein B8 5160 with the external reservoir on the rear?

I couldn't find details, but are the 5100 series aluminum or steel? I assume they don't use boots?9f75c3551d6a61d89a49fe011030be69.jpg
