i replaced the one in the wife's burb couple weeks ago, seems to be working fine now. it's normal for the screen to go black when in the up position.
took about an hour or so to r&r

Where did you get the screen panel? What was their part number for this? I see several for the up to 2018 models but little for a 2019. Might be the same? Did you find a youtube video for the one with the moving screen with the storage pocket behind?

I replaced it on the wifes 2016 (the 8" that lifts to expose the cubby with usb port), I did find a mostly helpful video
once I had it out of the vehicle I just took it to the kitchen table, put a bath towel down and set it on there so nothing would be get scratched up
you will need some long small screw drivers and torx type also, a pick tool is helpful as well, note how the ribbon cables are routed in the cage (take pictures)
and use caution handling the ribbon cables and ends if you crack or break one of those then you will have to source one from somewhere.

i know the screens are all noted for 15-18 but the same part is also noted to fit 2019 also in the compatibility list
this is the screen with digitizer, it arrived in about 3 days but I think the shipping location is not far from me
this is the video

I decided to bite on the Gen5DIY mirror/radar harness and installed it today. I've got to fight with the cover some more to get it to fit back on properly but it's a vast improvement already for aesthetics.

Thanks for the info. I see some of the screen replacements are only the membrane and glass while this one does have the panel with it. Sure hate to tackle those push in fasteners on those dash panels. Easy in, a bear to get out.

ya doing just the digitizer is probably not for everyone myself included, for $30 more it's a whole new part. R&R and done.

dropped the truck off at the dealer on monday because the oil pan was leaking and I have insurance for that, they found the upper and lower oil pan seals leaking, oil cooler lines leaking (which is not abnormal, they all seep after 6 months) and they found the rear pinion seal leaking and water pump leaking so it's all getting fixed, approved already with insurance $100 deductible. Insurance was $3000 so I am getting atleast half of that back this time. still have another year and 25k coverage, kind of hoping the transmission takes it's crap before then so I can get that fresh before the insurance expires

Nice to have somebody else doing the work once in a while, too!
