How are you liking the swap? Did yours have the self leveling nivomat shocks in the rear? Pretty sure that comes with the zw7.

Yes, I removed the factory nivomat shocks. It’s a slightly firmer ride now but still comfortable with the leveling keys in front. I’m pretty happy with the ride quality, and the Tahoe uses standard shocks now.

Ran the codes, P0300, P1516, and P0101.Random misfire, Reduced Power and maf. Had to get it towed home, hopefully my buddy will be able to look at it soon.
Glad to hear that your gf is ok. Wow, bad night. Hope it turns out to be something simple with your Tahoe.

That’s quite the score on the Esky cluster; it even has a trans temp gauge, bonus!
Thanks, she's in a lot of pain. Hopefully it'll be cheap to fix, for now. I have the permanent solution sitting on the garage floor.
I'm actually not too crazy about the esky cluster, I really only wanted the trans temp. I'm gonna see if I can paint those silver rings black. I like doing mods, but really like when people can't tell what I did.

Yea I would like a stiffer suspension, but I really like my load leveling shocks. I tow quite a bit and after a few miles it's right back to stock height instead of sagging from tounge weight...

Been contemplating giving it up though. What made you switch over?

My shocks were worn out and new nivomat shocks are $$$. Plus I wanted a little bit firmer ride and the ability to try different shocks now that the zw7 springs are swapped out. I’m going to tow with mine as well. Air bags and a wireless controller are next.

stiffer suspension is possible while maintaining the load levelling ability. You can just swap in new springs. If you want to maintain non z71 height you can put in standard (moog 81071) non z71 springs, or if higher ride height and even stiffer than that is the goal then the moog 81069 (z71) springs would work.

MOOG Part # 81071 Constant Rate Spring
Bar Size (In): 0.640 Inch
Free Height (In): 16.042 Inch
Install Height (In): 5.266 Inch

MOOG Part # 81069 Constant Rate Spring
Bar Size (In): 0.640 Inch
Free Height (In): 17.177 Inch
Install Height (In): 5.266 Inch


I swapped from my worn airride equipped springs (which are softer than 81071 from what I understand) to some z71 springs that I trimmed a coil off of and some bilstein shocks (I deleted my non functional airride as well, simply due to cost to replace). They are definitely stiffer. Not uncomfortable though.

MUCH better in my case than what was in there before.

I feel the same. The silver rings will just stick out too much. I was going to paint mine when I get it to match the rest of the dash

If I could just use the trans temp gauge in my old cluster, I'd be happy. @#1taho, do you have a pic of your cluster with the truck running?

The Trans temprature gauge is plug and play as you probably know. I sent my cluster out to have it refurbished, new lights, stepper motors, etc. Had the trans gauge added for $80. I'll bet you can swap that gauge into your original panel.

Thx man, I really appreciate it. Hopefully everything works on it. I'm going to try and swap just the gauge itself. Just in case, who's your cluster guy? Maybe I'll get him to put led's and steppers too. Thx again.
