@HiHoeSilver

Did you go with all AC Delco parts on Rock Auto? Standard or HD stuff if it was available? For example the AC Delco AC belt has a few different levels and prices as does the tensioner. $20 difference between standard and OEM. Thx man.

Here's what I did. All Acdelco OE. (except the AC belt. I had gotten a Gates fleet runner on sale). Overkill on a 12 year old truck? Maybe. I think it was @Tonyrodz that had the Acdelco PRO idler go bad pretty quick....
You're stuff might be different than mine, yours is 4.8, right?

@Fosscore when was last a/c belt change? I’d slap a belt on but while its off spin all pulleys that you can by hand just to see if anything jumps out at you, then put new belt on... cheapest, easiest and you’re gonna end up doing it anyway. Idk..... just my .02. Good luck

Ok. Serp and AC belt at same time or just AC belt?

Might give that a go as well.

Thx input guys.

Would like to accomplish this one myself, but TBH I do not recall last belt change without digging through my binder.

I have not had to deal with a belt change myself, but wouldn’t mind giving it a go. I can YouTube it, but you guys have any tips? Thx.

Edit: watched YouTube video, but got sidetracked with this...

Yes 4.8 and the AC never gets a break, even though the truck is not my DD. I just saw those fleet runner and more $$ parts and always like to use OEM if can, but wanted to see what you used. Thx for the info.

Will go that way first then. Thx.

4 bolts to drop the plastic splash shield and you’ll have tons of room to work. Good luck

I figured a good old refresh was in order for mine up here in rust land. Agree with Pete. My noise was definitely the AC tensioner. Quieted right down when I shot it with aerokroil.

Just curious what size alternator you have?
The RPO from my build sheet for the 4.8 is
KW1 GENERATOR,160 AMP which I looked up to select the correct belt for that alternator (provided it was not changed before I got it of course).

I think my 4.8 had the 130 amp--nice. I upgraded to the 160 amp, then had to get a slightly larger belt.
