Still chasing an oil leak that is getting worse by the day, so I replaced the crankshaft position sensor as the starter was wet. I don't have high hopes for it. Already did the pan gasket and pressure sensor. Next up is valley cover gasket and if that ain't it I'm afraid the rear main is the culprit.

Might get one of those scope cameras and stick it in the bell housing because just eyeballing it with the cover off, I can't really tell anything.

How do you diagnose that lol I would absolutely prefer it to be the heat shield

Last time I had a noise like that, it was on my Ram. I chased down the issue by climbing under it with it turned off, and just bumping it with my palm at all different places on the exhaust system. Eventually, you'll hear where the metal is clanging together. Beat it as hard as you need to to make it rattle... then just follow the sound.

Mine turned out to be a loose exhaust clamp, but heat shields are the most common problem.

Plugs and wires at 101K; I bought them over a year ago. Good thing they don't go stale!

Did it while the Fusion was in the shop getting a replacement passenger airbag. Finally.
