Finally bit the bullet and replaced my 16 year old original windshield today. I've been working on and off with the owner of the glass company for almost 2 months trying to decide what brand of glass would make my obsessive compulsive personality happy for the next 5-10 years... We settled on Vitro brand glass.

Apologies for how dirty she is, but it's just warm enough for the first time today for me to be ready to hand wash the truck after the snow/ice storm we had last week.

This is on my to-do list once the weather gets warm enough.
Did you run into any problems that would be helpful to know about for a 1st timer?

My HS shop teacher use to say the garage Tommy Knockers must have blood for all good projects……. I guess this is must be a good project! It took me 3 days but I got a few items off the 100k/new to me service list with the radiator flush, new serpentine belt, new AC belt, new water pump and a new thermostat. I was surprised how clean the fluid was so I was able to get by with just a radiator rise of distilled water rather than a clean a rinse. I wasn’t going to do the belts but I figured it was a wise $50 spent.

There was a guy asking about the water pump a little while ago and disabilities. I have several challenges and was still able to get through it and all from the top - if you are still considering it feel free to reach out and I can share some of my experiences with it.

Oh, and the engineer who put that little radiator drain tube in there deserves a beer, though I’m sure he was promptly reassigned once word of his efficiency got out

Lastly, my lower fan shroud was just sitting there after I pulled the upper shroud out. It seems like there has to be more to secure it other than the 4 plastic clips to the upper shroud which only has the 2 bolts holding the whole thing in. I would think one little bump and its fan fodder. It there is supposed to be something more to??? If so, please pass it along

Not yet (and hopefully no problems will come up at all) but if anything comes up or comes to mind, I'll be sure to post up here. It was a bit unnerving seeing them use a sawzall with a scraper attachment to remove the glue/sealant when removing the old windshield, but I haven't noticed any scrapes or scratches on the inside or outside of the truck.

They did have to remove the windshield wipers and cowl around them, so if you were a super particular fella, you might want to remove those before they arrive so it's one less thing they can potentially mess up/break.

I was planning on doing the entire thing myself. I already bought all the stuff needed, just need a plan of attack and warmer weather.

Have you done a windshield set in urethane before? If not I highly recommend having it done by a professional. I have done auto glass in the past. It’s not like the old days of butyl or rubber gaskets.

Gf went out to do some food shopping today, and the truck just stalled in the road. Started it and got the "Reduced Engine Power". So she plugs in the scanner trying to reset it and some MUTHERPHUKER in a dodge pickup can't wait and tries squeezing by. Smashes the powerfold mirror and takes off. Of course she's all nervous, so she doesn't take a pic of the truck or looks at the license plate. I tell ya, that a$$wipe is soooooo lucky I wasn't in the truck when it happened!!
Even smashed the housing. Funny thing, it still folds, and the mirror still works with the switch.

Dammit. Any idea what the problem is with the engine? What are the codes?
