Not exactly today, but over the past week. Last weekend I decided to finally do the driver’s seat cushion, heater, and cover replacement on my ‘04. I bought the cover and pad about a year ago -- typical -- but had forgotten to order the heater. A couple of months ago I thought it would be best to do the heater along with everything else, so I ordered that, too. Kudos to The Seat Shop (
https://www.theseatshop.com/) for their quality parts and detailed install videos.
The DuroFoam cushion is all it’s cracked up to be. Nice and firm, and I sit an inch or more higher now and don’t sink into the seat like before. The old cushion was showing its age (but it won’t stop me from offering it – with the OE heater on it -- and the cover in the For Sale forum for free, buyer to pay shipping).
I will say that I couldn’t stretch the cover over the cushion by myself; my son came over and essentially stood on the metal frame (to compress the foam cushion) while I hooked the plastic retainer strips over the metal edges (this is all shown in The Seat Shop’s install video). Everything else is held by super heavy duty Velcro and NO hog rings.
Obviously not a professional job but it’s exactly what I needed to make Red Hoe more comfortable. I may try a little heat to minimize the slight wrinkles after it settles in, but even if it stays the way it is, it will be fine for me.
