Maybe that's why then. Think it would or could work as a regular sub box? Guess I'd have to change the sub that's in it. Just hook it up as a regular sub box?

I believe that the Bose sub is only a 6 inch or 6.5 inch sub. But the box that it comes with makes it sound like its best gger than a 6, as do most Bose subwoofers. Honestly, the easiest thing to do is get a 00-02 side panel and subwoofer box from a Tahoe/Yukon that had the 8" rear subwoofer. That was the "premium" sound system, which actually has a factory amp and subwoofer (****** though) and it was a step under the Bose equipped trucks. The Bose was supposed to be top of the line.

I've seen alot of these trucks and I've yet to see that rear grill cutout, meaning the truck having the premium sound system. Anyone wanna trade? Lol

Mine came with it. And just about every 00-02 I see in the junkyards have them. Starting in 2003, they stopped putting an 8" sub back there, because they did away with the "premium" sound system option. Either regular stereo or Bose. And the Bose didn't have an 8" sub back there, they had a tiny sub underneath the center console. But instead of making a smooth rear side panel, they made a fake grill in that same spot. What sense that makes is beyond me.

@Red Rocket

Did your cover come that way or did you Dremel it out? Mine is all filled in and I've seen other guys cut it out. I actually did not pay attention to the trim ring as mentioned by ScottyBoy. Just seeing the differences in what other guys have done. Thanks.
My cover was like that but it had the Bose subwoofer enclosure which has a small Acoustimass sub which isn't upgradeable and didn't provide enough bass.IMG_4315.JPG IMG_4312.JPG

The Bose sub isn't upgradeable, see my other post. It's not a very good sub either. Good idea, but it needed a bigger driver. And amp.

That's the same one I have. There's a factory amp bolted to the top of it, but I don't think it was used for the sub, doesn't look like it anyway. Looks like a 6x9 in there. So there's no way I could use it then? We were listening to the Bose in the Denali for awhile, and it sounded pretty damn good! I was surprised how good it sounded.

Yes that amp was used for the sub as well as the 8 satellite speakers. I still use mine for the satellites but went with a dedicated 450 watt monoblock for the JL 10" sub I installed. The sub in the Bose enclosure is around a 4 x 8 and it's 2 ohms, special size, can't be changed to a standard size. I mean, it sounds ok, just not real loud.
