And what in the hell is this bracket on the rear of the DS head? My google-fu isn't getting any hits and I don't remember this from my LS f-body days. There was a bolt in the hole that I took out before I could see it.

Looks like it's the guard that keeps the fuel rail from breaking on the firewall in case of accident.

Dropped my 15mm socket in the exhaust manifold trying to pull the DS head. Fished it out with a new tool.

The rear exhaust manifold bolt also snapped..strange being an all Texas car. Does this shot look like #7 was leaking exhaust?

Can you get a better pic of the part# or casting # on that bracket.

Is there a write up on the rewiring? I'm not finding anything using the search.
nothing to rewire really it's just a momentary ground 2-wires 1 wire goes to ground 1 wire goes to the bcm, when the key is on or engine running and the ground is made the bcm switches the transmission to tow mode, when the ground is made again it switches it back to normal, or if the key is switched off it goes back to normal. you just patch the 2 wires to each other.
if you ever get in a pinch and the tow mode button stops working it's always the wire that breaks (due to the shifter moving up/down all the time), you can just find those 2 thin orange wires under the steering column and touch it to ground to get tow mode working

I used the Avalon King Armor Shield. It goes a lot further than I expected. I did 2 coats on the whole truck and one coat on the wheels. I still have a little bit left.
I’ve never heard of that one, where did you hear about it? I used the Chemical Guys Hydro Slick last year. I still have a lot left, just waiting on the weather.
