My guess millage reprogram
Those are actually older pix, now the bench has an ECM, BCM, TCCM and cluster.
I've done milage reprogram several times just by soldering off the flash memory chip and changing the values right there. U don't need all this set up for milage reprogramming.
My goal is decyphering Class2 messages and communicating with the car. Also, I plan to install 2 speed Transfer case with a low gear and lock out of Hummer H2 or Tahoe with NR4 option, and I need to make the TCCM work with my vehicle. I am half way there, the TCCM actually shifts to Low-Lock, but it I've got a "Stability disabled" message on the cluster, and I need to figure out why. The Tech2 shows that Stability actually enabled, so I suspect it's a different calibration in EBCM for escalades end Tahoes (both with Active brakes JL4 option).
On a side, I made a clone of my PCM, so if I destroy mine, I have a spare. I used PCM Hammer. It is good to the point that HP Tuner is happily writing my saved calibrations to the new PCM using my current 1 vehicle license.
I also try to teach BCM to do new things, like fold the mirrors when the alram locks the car. I learned the message sequence that DDM (Driver Door Module) sends to BCM to fold the mirrors, and I, with a help of a memer of GM Nation forum, decoded some of them, but there are still gray areas there. It will keep me busy and entertained for 2021 for sure.
Another usage of this bench - cluster repairs and LED conversions. I just plug a cluster or steering wheel switches using factory harness, don't need to wiggle with separate wires to test if all LEDs or stepper motors are working
