Besides perfection, what were you aiming for on those?

I am just happy mine is not perforated and blistered with rust from road salt, like the steel pan I had on my Jeep TJ. The aluminum pans on my Tahoe keep the stuff inside inside and they don't leak. Works for me.

My 04 Z71 has zero potential for restoration, so I have to resign myself to a much lower set of standards and expectations. Nothing about it is or ever will be perfect and I am perfectly fine with that. Keeping it running, which hasn't been that difficult so far, and keeping it in OK condition until I am paid off on the loan is my goal.

I imagine it is a different situation, when you have the potential to make things 100%, but have occasional troubles getting there.

You have a great build underway! You are doing an awesome job with everything I have seen so far!
I don't know how I even talked myself into it, I got some tools for the Dremel and thought I was gonna knock it out quick, lol.
They do look way better.

I really have just been not wanting to pull this crank and cam back out to get this piece of lint that I told myself would be alright. But I can't get myself to move forward either, lol

Last time I did my alignment I set my wheels dead center, zero toe. Last night I decided to toe-in the wheels to see how it handled. As expected, it handled much nicer with a slight toe-in, especially noticeable at highway speeds.

I did 1/2 of a rotation of the tie-rod on each wheel.

Does anyone know the ratio of tie-rod rotations to toe-in degrees?

No clue. You'd have to find the thread pitch of the adjuster then do maths. But, half a turn sounds about right when I think back to when I was adjusting mine.

I do know that the factory specs on just about anything calls for a very slight toe-in. It stabilizes on-center feel and reduces wandering.

Reduced wandering was what I was after. With zero toe I noticed that wind could blow me around on the highway, and road aberrations sent me off-course more than I liked.

The 1/2 rotation cleaned that up nicely. I am gonna go another 1/4 each and see how that is.

I had my buddy help me set my toe. We just found a section of tread on the tire that we could get measurements off of. I can't remember how much a half turn was moving the measurements, either a half or a quarter inch I think. Drove better on the way to the alignment shop than it did after I left. Lol
I had 1/8 or maybe 1/16 difference.
