Getting ready to do the exact same thing on mine. Have the part in my garage. How long did it take you to do? You have to drop the spare to do it, right?
Yes definitly need the spare out. All in all about a hour.

Maybe 20 mins to change. Idk about the spare since i dont have one haha. The hardest part was getting the tube up by the gas cap.
if you take off the bolts that hold the filler tube in place by the gas cap the filler tube can be pulled down and makes it much much easier as the vent tube clips on to the top off the filler tube inside behind the body, then it zip ties in a couple other places also, just cut the ties and put on new ones.

Lots of options for lowering with auto ride. You can even keep the auto leveling function in the rear if you choose. Check out my build thread for some info...

I kept the auto leveling system in the back with my 4/6 kit in case I load the truck down with people, luggage, and a trailer.

No service suspension lights on dash... rides great.

i had not seen it in a little while, i remember reading through it once before because I've def checked out your tail light mod :)...looks like i need to do some additional reading

so...just had some really weird shit happen, I went to take my kid to summer camp this morning and I notice as I am driving that the "service suspension system" is on the dic, out of the blue, so I think hmm that's weird the shocks front and rear are pretty new I took care of this in the fall, so I drop the kid off and just do a cursory eye ball off everything looks good so I pull out my little centech code reader it gets nothing must be a system it cant read, so I think well I am close to the dealer that I have a good relationship with maybe they will scan it and tell me if it's a ride height sensor or whatever, I know the service manager pretty well so first we try to see if we can get the pump to kick on by bouncing on the truck etc, nothing... so he whips out a tech2 he keeps behind the counter, plugs it in and every thing imaginable lights up, tpms error, airbag, service stabiltrac, no temp reading on trans, the rpm gauge drops dead, we were both like wow, wth, unplugged it turned the key off and on, plugs tech2 back in same result, unplug tech2 turn key on everything is fine except same message for suspension system. he says it's a communication problem blah, blah, leave it we'll check it out no problem "freebie" well I cant leave it because my backup truck is getting a trans put in so I have nothing to drive in the meantime so I said I will bring it back. I get home hook up my more capable innova 3140g it doesn't read any codes but everything is normal cluster wise and I can read all the live data, fuel pressure, maf, yada yada. so I proceed to check all the level control fuses which are 2/54/58 all are fine, I bleed one rear shock, turn the key and the pump kicks on, fills it up shuts off and the service suspension system error is gone now. no other problems, so I am stumped I think I may go back and have them try another scanner and see what happens. I think my air pump is probably dying I haven't heard it much lately but haven't been paying attention to it either.

Perhaps the "dump valve" (exhaust valve) in the compressor has gone bad.

If you added weight to the back and it lifted to compensate for it but could not release the air when the additional weight was removed then it would...

A. Not turn the compressor on at initial start up until the air was released.

B. Would set a service suspension light.

C. Would turn the service suspension light off when you released the air manually.

My bet is that if you added weight to the back, the air compressor will turn on and lift up but will not release the air when the weight is removed, which will set the light on the dash again in short order.

As far as the rest of the dash acting up when the Tech2 is plugged in... my guess is maybe there is something wrong with the Tech2.

I just had a very similar thing happen to mine, and it turned out to be the compressor. I already replaced all the shocks and struts earlier this year, then I'd get random service suspension warning every few days. Then it just stayed on, and during that time the compressor worked when it felt like it, then just stopped altogether.
