iv'e had 2 of those a 79 & 80
the 79 came with 6.6l old's 455 & turbo 400
the 80 had a standard chevy 350 & turbo 400 w/shift kit
80 is when they added the dumb epa smog crap CEL

And from what ive read, seen, heard that trans am in that jump scene had a beefed up suspension and worked motor because a stock T/A would not have been able to make that long of a jump

Love that movie. It's been a few years since I've seen it tho. It's the movie that first got me hooked on cars--especially Trans Ams. I can't believe Burt Reynolds passed away.
