Exactly why I went with the Femco and not the Fumoto. I don’t care for the lever design.Not the Fomoto brand, but just like it. They use a 5/8 spring clip. A zip tie can also be used.
For users under extreme conditions: If you are using the Engine Oil Drain Valve on off-road vehicles such as farm tractors and logging equipment under extreme environment (i.e. corn fields, brush areas), it is recommended that a hose clip as shown below be used for extra safety and security..

I keep the fitting with the attached hose in my tool box. I would think with the Fumoto you need a hose anyway or else the oil will flow out like the drain plug does which always made me keep moving the container as the flow slows down. The hose with mine sticks straight down, aiming the oil into the pan. And if there’s no chance of that lever moving, why do they suggest the hose clamp or zip tie? I dunno. On the EZ Oil Drain valve that I have (like the Fumoto, but chromed like pictured above) the lever is spring loaded and sits in a notch. You have to push it against the spring pressure to get it out of the notch for it to turn.

Yeah, mine has a 90* hose nipple I can put on or keep on it so it directs downward. They only suggest the clamp if you want it more secure or if it's on off road vehicles and farm equipment.I keep the fitting with the attached hose in my tool box.
