sucks here if you have a pre-00 then they have to machine test the fumes, if have a 00+ they just connect to the obd port to check for codes and look to see if you have cats installed then 5 minutes later you are done. The cops only write a ticket if you are blatantly breaking the law, like straight pipes and it's so loud you got there attention or you were caught at some kind of sideshow, that's the only time they send out there "task force" to check emissions and if your caught like that they generally just impound the vehicle on the spot. play stupid games win stupid prizes as they say.

Testing? What are those? Here in Indiana, we don’t care, at least for now. My 00 Silverado I used to have a glass pack on it, till the welds rusted off. So I left it dumping by the rear of the cab. Never been pulled over. Although it’s not too loud unless I floor it. I’ve heard louder. Now if your vehicle looks unfit for the road and smoking badly they notice.

So I don’t want to be a copier, but this is the look that I visioned for mine too look like. Other than the wheel design, what headlights are those, and did you paint the grill inserts or get black ones?

Wasn’t today but, I got rear ended. Luckily for me he hit the hitch and just cracked the bumper near the opening for the hitch. And the paint damage. Oh, and the person driving was a 19 year old kid going to work at a dealership to fix the brakes, which also was a “friends car”. And by friend as in a side job with the only contact info was through snap chat. Oh and his insurance was not current. Oh and also he had a suspended license that he didn’t know about. Oh and the person that just bought the car also didn’t have insurance.

Ya on the 99 & earlier they stick a sniffer tube up the tail pipe and check the exhaust fumes, if your running lean, egr is bad, vacuum pump bad, etc they can detect excessive gasses, so they fail you and make you come back when its fixed, after you spend $500 on repairs and still haven't fixed the problem they will give you a one-time pass, some vehicles are now exempt I think it is 72 and previous or somewhere around there, if you have a older Diesel truck there really strict on those and made it so hard to pass most of the older diesels aren't even on the road anymore

Speaking of bumpers- while staying down here in SoCal the hotel we were at only did Valet. No option to park the car yourself. Never encountered that before but I guess thats a thing with some hotels. Anyway I never walked around the front of the vehicle between the time we left the hotel til we got to Uncles house- about a 6 hour drive. Anyway- the bumper cover was popped out on both of the sides by the fenders and is cracking in the corner by the grill. Guess the Valet ran it into something. No damage to the paint, but I may have to figure something out to keep the corners secure if they pop out again.

I HATE valet parking! Usually they'll steal your change and look through your $hit too.

I’m with you on this one. I swear 1/2 of them are auditioning for the next “Gone in 60 seconds” or “Fast n Furious”. If it’s not the guy driving your vehicle, it’s the idiot driving another vehicle that’s trying pack the vehicles in to maximize the use of space.

So either way, we are close to where we need to be at cold temp then? It looks low, but not actually too low to be too concerned about is what you are saying?

Not low enough to freak out about. The coolant system on an LS engine is difficult to bleed of all air, so the level could've slowly dropped over time as air that's been in there for who-knows-how-long finally worked it's way to the surge tank.

I'd fill it to the "COLD" line and check it ever so often. If it keeps dropping, THEN start looking for a small leak.

Get a dashcam

After getting to destination and noticing damage, review footage and find out what happenend. Most of todays cams have GPS co-ordinates and time/date on the footage.
