Biggest problem is the bearing caps which deflect under extreme stress and cause the bearing to go. A girdle is a must-have imo for high hp applications. I have a TA Performance girdle on mine. It has load bolts that keep the bearing caps from deflecting.

Wynjammer. It was sort of experimental on my part as well as Al Martin's. lol

I still have it and was considering modding the bracket to fit the LS accessory bracket and throwing it on the Tahoe. I'd have to study the compressor map and the 5.3's airflow dynamics, but the rough idea is that I could get 6-7 psi out of it with the pulley intended for 10 psi on the 4.3. The FlexFuel injectors would easily support it so it'd be a cheap little kick. I almost wanna bolt it up just to hear it.
I was looking at one for mine before finally admitted to myself that if I was going to continue driving as much as I had been, that a bigger vehicle would be a good idea. A Focus had pulled out in front of me at an intersection, and to quote Eminem, by the skin on my teeth/hair on my nuts I avoided the accident (and of course the dash cam, while it was recording, the SD card was screwed up and i didn't have footage). I was also looking at the bigger injectors they have. That said, I love how much better the LS platform is than the Vortec platform, just from an architecture standpoint! 6 bolt mains! No more distributors! Plastic intake manifolds rather than metal! Intake air temps within 3 or 4 degrees of outside air instead of 20+ with the intake on the s10!

I picked one up from B&M, polished it had it powder coated etc.. I've had it on the Crew Cab for well over 2 years now. Excellent product. I purchased and installed a Moser Cover on the SS. That's been on for over 4 years. Excellent product as well.

I doubt either one will work on ours due to the panhard bar. I had to use the TA Performance low profile with a QA1 panhard bar which has a bend in it.

That aint bad. Sticker on mine says max legal trailer weight is 10,000 with a load distributing hitch with a tounge weight of 1,000. Just gotta load it correctly, watch sway, be careful with wind, standard stuff. Gonna be a while before we buy one and honestly a 3/4 ton burb would be perfect

Like Tom said, that's your hitch capacity, not the truck's. I think yours would be 6,700 tow rating and a GCWR of 13,000 pounds.

That’s lame. Why’s OE equipment showing two didferent numbers?

Lots of things have different maximum ratings. Our transmissions, wheels, axles, hitches, etc. Some items can handle more weight than others.

The numbers on the hitch are for it only. As installed, it can handle more weight than our vehicles are rated to tow for, which is good, wink wink!

I 100% agree. Just seems silly as no other vehicle I hooked a trailer up to had a sticker out back like that.

Don't forget about the upgradeable fuel system. I never could get the fueling right and melted a piston one night pulling an SRT-4. Swapped in an 8K-mile 4.3 and started collecting LS swap parts. There were a few developments that came out soon after that mishap- modified GM 4.3 marine manifold, modified Edelbrock 2114 manifold and slightly larger poppet nozzles for the spider injection.
