Does anybody have little specs of ‘glitter’ in their catch can? This is the first real oil change on this engine so I’m not too worried but I may dump the contents of the can into an oil sample container and then take a sample of engine oil and send both off to Blackstone for oil analysis.

edit: I should also say that the can is only up to this level in the can after a few thousand miles

I don’t see any glitter in mine. What I get is about 4-6oz of a caramel coloured emulsion when I check it once every few thousand miles. I disabled DoD via software too.

If possible, you should try to cut open your oil filter and see what's in there.

I will. My thinking is that it’s flakes from the new rockers breaking in. I don’t see how bearing material could get into the pcv
Doesn't the oil run thru the motor and then the fumes are caught in the Catchcan?, I would think therefore whatever material the oil captures would then also enter the pcv

yeah but the super high surface tension of the oil would hold onto the metal- not allowing it to get sucked up by the pcv like it would the vapors. The fumes seem to be pretty close to 50/50 fuel/oil mix

Sounds like some scientific mumbo jumbo oil marketing, unless it's captured by the oil filter I am certain any contaminants would be found throughout the engine, just like coolant when a head gasket blows. do you see the same thing on the oil dipstick?, what did you put in the catch can as a filter material?

Nothing on the dipstick except very clean looking oil! My idea for catch can filter material didn’t go for shit. :c the amount of flakes in the catch can was very low however
