just ordered a new heated clock spring to go with my steering wheel. even though my 2013 tahoe is a ppv, im hoping there's a connector somewhere hidden down there that attaches to the new heated clock spring

Think you need a new harness for the column... 25807858/60296271

I would check with @Galante, he bought the parts but do not know if he's gotten around to it yet and he's taken a sabbatical from the forum.

I want to figure out how to add both a ham and a cb to the tahoe. The hard part is I refuse to drill into the roof for the antennas.

Rear hatch, up in the 3rd brake light area or behind the hood around the hinge? Have seen a few where it's mounted to the rear bumper step pad and one coming out the gap around a tail light.

That’s not a bad idea. Wonder how well that will work.

@swathdiver I found this. I need to study and research for the ham test so I actually understand this stuff. I know /why/ the pattern would be effected by the placement of antenna- and I know what decibels are and how the scale works, but I don’t understand in practice what effect the -2.whatever decibel of placing it on the trunk would have for signal strength or reception or whatever.

That's all Greek to me. In the 1980s, I placed the antennas on the center of the trunk lid and on my truck, they were on the mirrors. Our Cutlass had a K40 on a magnetic mount, my '79 had one of those 4' or 5' Firestiks mounted on the lid and snapped off too many entering underground parking garages!

I'll eventually put a Cobra CB in mine but it's way down on the list of things to do right now, even below the loud hailer.

From everything i read, all i need is the wheel and the new clock harness with heat. If theres no harness tucked away i would have to provide ground and power.

A lot of antennas need a flat surface below them to project the signal that is being transmitted properly in to the atmosphere. Kind of like a cone on a speaker. The chart you posted shows the effective loss of transmitting power (in dB) as compared to mounting it in the middle of the roof due to loss of a flat grounding plane.
I am by no means an expert but have looked into it a few times in my life.

Here is an article on it.
