It’s called backer rod, available at any hardware store, Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc. It’s normal use is backer for caulk joints.

Pro Tip. If you want to pull it in and both ends of the weather strip are open you can use your blow gun to blow a fishing line down through the weather strip and then tie it to the rod to pull it in.

3/8 foam rope is what I used on my nbs. Sprayed wd40 and slid it in. It kind of resembles a pool noodle just 3/8 round.

AKA "backer rod". Used for partially filling or damming a gap so less sealant is used, as with expansion joints in concrete.

Drove down I-95 yesterday from Richmond in our ‘07 Denali, pulling our camper and camped at Tybee Island, GA. Toured Savannah today and it was spectacular. Glad to have 2 Denali’s because as some of you know, the ‘12 is under the knife getting a cam upgrade and it’s taking about a month longer than planned, thanks to lifter and cam failure on the first try.

It's basic LS engine knowledge that those are your "north" stripes. They indicate proper orientation/clocking of the springs. They should all be facing "north" or "up", towards the intake manifold. I hope you don't drop a valve.

Are you just messing? I always heard those are just identifying marks. Different colored stripes for different springs. Here’s a thread on LS1 Tech about them. I know the aftermarket springs I’ve installed have no orientation. DOOOOD! Leave 'em alone! I was messing with you! They're a metal circle- it makes no difference of their orientation.

Sorry for the bad joke. In my mind, it would've been taken like the instruction to position the valve stems of your tires at the 6 o'clock position when you rotate your tires so they're all synchronized.
