Replaced the starter. Sweated my ass off in the driveway. But changing the starter was a breeze on this thing compared years ago on my 94 s10 blazer. Since it was 4wd shit was in the way. Took forever fighting it out. Also found my slight exhaust leak.

Old and new. Came with a new magnet, but I’m going to run the original since that split ring is kind of a pain and it works just fine. Fingers crossed this works

That magnet part was a pita.
I used a slide hammer to remove the pully iirc.
Once you have the pully off, iirc it was pretty easy to get to.

Not that i had any intention of reusing anything, I took mine apart in order to see how it worked and to confirm it didn't have any metal in the crank case.
(meaning i would need to flush the system if found)

I don't recall the snap ring at the bottom being too difficult, just getting that pully off.

Did you find you needed to remove the transmission cooler lines?
(I'm assuming you have the 6spd)

And i got the hoe setup to drop that engine in tomorrow.
jack on the exhaust so i can get it out of the way, and a separate jack (motorcycle) lifting the transmission into a slight upwards angle.
I just need to remember i need to lower that jack once i have the transmission and engine mounting started.

I also wrote on the masking tape that's covering the open holes on top of the engine "GREASE CRANK!!!"
hoping i notice it once i have it on the hoist.

Apparently it's a required thing, grease the center snout where the converter mates to.
I have some nice quality marine grease on hand, i hope that's correct.
but it's the stuff i use on my del-a-lum bushings on the vette.
(made that a hyperlink if you want to see what i'm talking about)

Just Fishing........don't seal cedar with anything. Stuff like oil etc. Thompsons water seal is ok. Cedar does best oiled once in a while esp. the bottom near the ground.

and i started work on what will be the new garage color.
The plan is to do the entire garage like this.

costs me about $50 a roll, but i got a ton of coverage with it.
I'm already noticing a difference in the garage.

Yeah, I'm weird.
I like the way cedar looks when it ages to a nice grey.
I would never seal it unless i had a requirement for it to look pretty.

My old man neighbor does not, I just roll my eyes at him and just keep telling him NO I won't go in with a chain-link fence.

Crazy people before me tried to paint the freaking cedar...
I stripped that crap off. :jester:
