Cv axle boot developed a leak on the avalanche. I replaced that boot prob 60k miles ago. At 200k, it's time to replace the entire assembly I suppose. What axles you guys using? OEM or aftermarket?
I’m an OEM buyer myself. $$$ but I’ll never believe you’ll get the same quality for a fraction of the price.

That said, I’m running oversized tires off-road. For the average daily driver the remans may be “good enough “.

I used OEM on my 02. I want them to last.

Used theothertwin to haul some fence materials. A 10ft fence section with only one post to replace. Materials with GI discount were over $200.

@#$&&$@#$ inflation.

I was talking fencing with a coworker yesterday. The quote he got last year was $5K, now it's $12K. He said he could build his fence with the composite boards for that. I told him he should and he'd never have to replace any pickets, no sealing or staining, etc. I think it'd be cheaper in the long run and he'd always have a great-looking fence with minimal maintenance.

Repaired some of the engine harness plastic shielding, re-wrapped most of the harness with fresh tape.
used some heat shielding tape copying what i saw for the starter wire for anything under the exhaust manifold.

The stuff i had on hand,

If you want to go "bling bling" (gold)
I have never tried the gold stuff, i hear it's better though, but at double the price!

I love this crap, it sticks very well.
Mostly it's meant to cover seams between a thicker heat shielding wrap, but it works fantastic for smaller projects.

Plan today; get the hoe ready to have the engine dropped in tomorrow.
lift transmission slightly, lift and support exhaust.
then use tie down straps to pull the manifolds to the side of the truck...

The darn pickets were almost $5 each. I needed 22, plus got a few extra.

i swear if I have to deck any deck maintenance, it’s getting composite planks. Repainting all the time is a pita.

On my long list of to-do's
Replace some more fence posts.

I think the fencing was installed in the 90's (from some of my old neighbors in the neighborhood).
However their time range in their heads might be a bit skewed, so i'm guessing when the neighborhood was planned out, so probably mid to late 80's.
Maybe early 90's as more homes filled in...
nice cedar fencing, nicely aged as cedar should

the planks seem to last just fine, it's just the bottom of the posts.
pretty easy to yank out of there and replace, then screw everything back.

If i had a smaller yard, i could see replacing with all fresh.
then clear coat for some pretty wood.
My yard = fk no

Plus my yard spans something like 5 different yards.
Yup, easier to tie my dogs up and replace posts.

I like this post, not urgent = maybe next year unless things get even more expensive as money machines go

Mine is 12 years old. The yard Backs up to 4 neighbors, so we’ve replaced it in shared parts over the last 2 years. I have two 10 ft sections left that are all mine. My dog weighs 110#, and loves to chase squirrels. She has run straight through the piece I’m doing today in hot pursuit of tree rats. I not only have to replace it, but make better, stronger, faster.

I have one section that a neighbor replaced, i offered to pitch in but i think they wanted the pretty part facing towards them 100%

My other neighbors, I'm pretty much on my own to foot the bill.

the one neighbor that would help out with his side wants a chain-link fence.
Me = fk chainlink fences. god no.
:jester:

Chainlinks are fine for things like where i want the dogs to stay off of my rv parking pad.
Or gates where i need it to stay somewhat light weight...
but not lining yards!

So yeah I'm on my own there.
